The App

THUNK is a mental wellness application centered on metacognition — the practice of examining one's own thought patterns. Where most wellness apps focus only on journaling, mood tracking, or guided meditation, THUNK carves out space by providing tangible metrics, data visualization, and pattern recognition to allow users to better understand their mind and how it changes over time and context.

As founder and developer, I built THUNK from concept to working product — spanning product design, UX architecture, and development.

Why THUNK

Most mental health tools rely on retrospective self-report — a single check-in, days or weeks removed from the moment itself, filtered through memory. Research on Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) shows this gap matters: people don't accurately recall how they felt or thought in the moment, they reconstruct it, often inaccurately. EMA instead samples thoughts, emotions, and behavior in real time, in their natural context — and clinical studies applying it have linked this kind of repeated self-monitoring to measurable self-insight: recognizing one's own mental patterns and what triggers them, associated with better functioning and quality of life. THUNK is built on that same principle — designed to catch your thinking as it happens, not reconstruct it after the fact.
