About

Daniel Tajes

I like making things.

I’m happiest when I’m given an interesting problem, a good team, and the freedom to figure out how to make something work. I love brainstorming, thinking through decisions, getting my hands dirty with execution, and—perhaps most of all—seeing an idea become something real. I’m also a great listener. I like understanding what people need, whether that’s a teammate working through a problem or a customer experiencing something I’ve built.

At Princeton, I developed a strong technical foundation through chemistry and engineering research while also pursuing dance. I learned to work well with others, take ownership of my work, and approach unfamiliar problems systematically.

After graduating, I joined an early-stage startup as Head Materials Engineer. I led the development of our electrodes and the system used to fabricate them, systematically optimizing materials, fabrication parameters, and process conditions. In my first three months, our work increased electrode performance from 14% to 96% Faradaic efficiency, and I helped develop a 625× scale-up of electrode production. I also improved the deposition system, including by adding pressure and moisture controls and developing more efficient processes. Working at a small startup taught me how much I enjoy taking ownership, moving quickly, and figuring things out as I go. It also pushed me to grow from executing my own work to sharing my perspective and helping shape broader decisions.

More recently, I’ve worked as a STEM teacher and Operations Advisor while pursuing projects of my own. In six months, I developed an app, invented Rodaspecs—a physical product for experiencing polarized art—and created three interactive artworks. One of those works, F.A.C.E., was selected for a juried exhibition at Trenton City Art Museum. Seeing people engage with things I’ve made has been incredibly rewarding.

I want to keep doing work where I can understand a problem and turn an idea into something people can actually experience. I’m especially excited by customer-facing products, particularly physical or interactive technology.

I’m now looking for an excellent, motivated team in New York City, though I’m also open to the right remote opportunity. Give me an interesting problem and a good team, and I’ll solve it with a smile on my face.

Let's build
something.

Open to collaborations, research, and interesting problems.
